Carlos R. Lago is a member of the Land Use & Land Development Practice of the firm’s Miami office. He focuses his practice on land use, zoning, and governmental affairs representing clients in numerous multi-million dollar transactions throughout South Florida. Carlos represents real estate and hotel development clients that include The Related Group; Terra; OKO Group; Aries Development; Aria Development; BMG Group; CMC Group; East End Capital Partners; Greystone & Co; Avra Jain; Largavista Companies; Lionheart Capital; Mana Wynwood; Mast Capital; and The Melo Group. He is active in helping both the owners and developers of historic properties use the city’s Transfer of Development Rights program, allowing historic property owners to sell their property’s excess development rights to developers. Carlos has achieved successful results for clients who are bringing quality projects to downtown Miami, the Edgewater area of the City of Miami, Wynwood, Brickell and beyond.
Prior to joining the firm, Carlos was the chief of staff for the largest hospital system in Florida, managing the health system's legislative agenda at the local, state and federal levels. He served as senior policy analyst at the City of Miami, working directly with the city commission and city administration on legislative and policy items related to land use, planning, zoning, and outdoor media.
