Dan Felz’s clients receive operations-ready management of their complex privacy, security, and technology issues, as well as seamless interactions with stakeholders. Fluent in German with a U.S. litigation background, Dan helps companies of all sizes across industries and jurisdictions resolve data-related matters at the local, national, and international levels.
An attorney with Alston & Bird’s Privacy, Cyber & Data Strategy Group, Dan leverages his extensive international experience to advise clients on global privacy, cybersecurity, technology, and adversarial matters.
Dan was an assistant professor of law at the University of Mainz School of Law in Germany. His teaching focused on cross-border litigation and transactions. Dan also wrote extensively on U.S. and German privacy law, including publishing a 600-page treatise in German on multijurisdictional class action litigation.
Dan often practices out of Alston & Bird’s Brussels office, where Alston & Bird’s EU Privacy, Cyber & Data Strategy Group is headquartered. He has presented U.S. privacy legislation to German privacy regulators as part of a limited series of “Mainz Presentations on Security and Information Law” at the invitation of the University of Mainz School of Law and the data protection commissioner of the German state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Dan has also presented clients’ EU cybersecurity programs to U.S. financial regulators.
Dan is fluent in German, an intermediate French speaker, and a beginner in Spanish and Arabic.
