Daniel Fuerst draws on his considerable first-hand experience and knowledge from serving as a law clerk to two federal judges in the District of South Carolina. Clients benefit from his powerful insights into federal practice and procedure as they navigate the litigation process and protect their interests.

Daniel has an extensive motions and litigation practice in South Carolina state and federal court in diverse areas of law, including commercial litigation, general liability, insurance coverage and bad faith, professional malpractice and ethics, premises liability, products liability, and civil rights. He has successfully obtained pre-discovery dismissal and summary judgment in dozens of cases on behalf of individuals, businesses, non-profits, health care providers, and governmental entities.

Daniel began his legal career as a term law clerk to the Honorable C. Weston Houck, U.S. District Court Judge for the District of South Carolina. Following this two-year clerkship, he served as a death penalty law clerk to the Honorable R. Bryan Harwell, Chief U.S. District Court Judge for the District of South Carolina. Prior to joining the firm, Daniel was an associate at the Charleston office of Hall Booth Smith, P.C.

He has been recognized by his peers as among the 2022 and 2023 Legal Elite in the Charleston Business Magazine. Additionally, he co-authored the South Carolina School Resource Officer Manual (2017 Edition) and was a member of the Charleston County Bar Association’s Engagement Committee in 2017 and 2018.

In law school, Daniel was the Publications Editor of the Federal Courts Law Review and wrote an article selected by a panel of federal judges for publication in Volume VIII, Issue 1 of the law review. He also served on the Moot Court Board and won second place for Best Petitioner’s Brief in the 2014 Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Competition, which he subsequently chaired as student director in 2015. He received the CALI Award for Advanced Legal Writing, was selected as a Legal Writing Fellow and a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, and earned his Juris Doctorate cum laude. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in French with a minor in Business Administration. He also studied at the Université de La Rochelle in France, where he received a Diplôme Universitaire d’Etudes Françaises in 2009.
