Construction Law
Danielle Senn Sessions is an experienced, board-certified construction attorney and the founder of Senn Sessions, PLLC. She serves clients' needs relating to commercial construction contracts and early dispute resolution, commercial real estate transactions, general business advising and legal training. Mrs. Sessions has represented contractors, developers, owners and specialty contractors for over fifteen years and has served in roles as both outside and in-house counsel. Her breadth of knowledge regarding business concerns and the realities of the legal world give her a unique ability to provide sound, practical advice to clients.
Mrs. Sessions has developed and negotiated countless contracts, ranging from large-scale multi-use and energy projects to short form subcontracts. With experience running a contracts department for fourteen different business units requiring hundreds of contract reviews each year, she focuses on drafting contracts, programs and processes that streamline the legal process, eliminate extra work for her clients and add clarity to the roles and responsibilities of all parties.
Over the course of her career, Mrs. Sessions has studied different construction industry sectors’ varied approaches to common industry problems. Her breadth of experience allows her to provide practical, real-world solutions to legal issues, while still advising clients on the probability and magnitude of risks they may not have considered. The variety of disputes and litigation that Mrs. Sessions has encountered as both outside and in-house counsel have honed her skills in resolving disputes early and efficiently for clients, as well as negotiating complex, multi-party settlement agreements.
Following graduation from SMU’s Cox School of Business and Dedman School of Law cum laude, Mrs. Sessions began her career in private practice with a Chambers USA Band 1 (top) ranking Texas-based construction law boutique, training under recognized industry leaders in the practice of construction law. After just six years in practice, she was recognized as a Texas Monthly Rising Star and among D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas.
Mrs. Sessions left private practice to serve as in-house construction counsel for a pipeline, power line and design construction conglomerate that was among the four largest in North America, then a rapidly-growing $4 billion contractor focusing on complex and specialized projects. Mrs. Sessions went on to serve as Senior Counsel at another large construction company, covering civil, commercial and industrial construction throughout the Texas, and then the greater Southern Region. During Mrs. Sessions time in-house, she was promoted numerous times and served as a legal advisor to executive boards before becoming board certified in construction law and returning to private practice.
Now, Mrs. Sessions also works with developers from cradle to grave on real estate transactions, drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, identifying and working through title issues, documenting development commitments, negotiating construction contracts, rolling in investors and ultimately selling completed developments.
