Fergus Schappert practices commercial litigation, with a focus on complex contractual disputes and construction claims. His experience includes work on public infrastructure, transmission and distribution, power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, and mining projects, and he has acted for owners, general contractors, design consultants and engineers, subcontractors and material suppliers.
A member of Miller Thomson’s construction group, Fergus provides practical advice and solutions to clients at all stages of the project life-cycle, assisting with procurement and tendering issues, contract review, advisory services during construction, dispute avoidance and resolution. He has experience in both arbitrations court proceedings, as well as with a wide-variety of contractually-mandated alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
Fergus completed his J.D. at the University of Saskatchewan in 2014 (with Distinction), after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Alberta. Before attending university, Fergus served with the 1st Battalion of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry from 2004 to 2009 and deployed as an infantry platoon signaler to Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 2008.
