Gerardo advises local and international clients on corporate, commercial, mergers and acquisitions, general regulatory compliance, and energy projects, with an emphasis on renewable energy. He has more than thirty years of experience guiding local and foreign investors in establishing, resizing, restructuring, and selling their operations in Mexico.
In particular, he is responsible for ensuring that all legal matters that impact the projects and operations of his clients, including without limitation, corporate, real estate, tax, and regulatory aspects are properly considered, also supervising litigation and administrative procedures relevant to clients.
As a result of his years of work in multiple direct investment projects, joint ventures, acquisitions, reorganizations, asset segregation or sales, and company dissolution and liquidation processes, Gerardo has become an expert in the automotive, steel, electrical, electronic sectors, and retail sales. In addition, Gerardo regularly carries out general supervision of projects related to contractual matters, company incorporation, and divestment operations.
He has extensive knowledge in the energy, electricity and renewable energy sectors and is a member of the firm's Energy industry group, which is made up of a team of lawyers dedicated to various legal areas specialized in advising clients in the energy sector and is a representative of the signature in the Nuevo León Energy Cluster. Gerardo obtained certification as a consultant in the matter of the Wholesale Electricity Market from the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE) and recently obtained a diploma in Public Private Associations from the Tecnológico de Monterrey and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid with an emphasis on infrastructure projects.
Gerardo has been professor of commercial companies, commercial arbitration and introduction to the study of Law at the Cervantina University, the Institute of Legal Sciences in Monterrey and the Green Hills College. He was a member of the Council of the Association of Foreign Lawyers of Georgetown University and Vice President of the Student Council of the Law Department of the Universidad Iberoamericana, A.C. Gerardo served as co-administrator and Managing Partner of the firm during the period from June 2005 to 2014. He is the former President of Fundación Appleseed México, A.C. and is co-leader of the firm's pro bono work efforts.
