Hunter Branstetter maintains a practice in civil litigation and dispute resolution addressing matters such as torts, including business torts; contract disputes; condemnation and eminent domain; employment matters, including employment discrimination; property rights and landlord-tenant issues; professional liability; state and federal appellate litigation; regulatory and administrative law; antitrust; and civil rights. He has represented individuals, privately held businesses, publicly traded companies, and professional organizations in a range of fields including construction, education, financial services, health care, insurance, labor, manufacturing, private equity, real estate, restaurants, retail, sales, startups, and telecommunications. He also represents utilities, municipalities, and utility-related entities. Additionally, Mr. Branstetter strives to maintain an active pro bono practice. A native Nashvillian, Mr. Branstetter earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School. During law school, he served as Development Editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law, as Content Editor for Obiter Dictum, as a class representative to the Labor & Employment Law Society, and as an active participant in the Legal Aid Society and Law Students for Social Justice. Mr. Branstetter was the president of the Vanderbilt Law School chapter of the American Constitution Society and has since served on the board of the Nashville Lawyer chapter of the ACS, including a multi-year term as its president. Mr. Branstetter graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English from Washington & Lee University, where he received a Francis P. Gaines Honor Scholarship. While at W&L, Mr. Branstetter was recognized with several awards for volunteer leadership including being named the John W. Elrod Unsung General of the Year. Before joining Sherrard Roe Voigt & Harbison, Mr. Branstetter was a law clerk for the Honorable Bernice B. Donald of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. While in law school, he also served as a summer clerk for Senior Judge Thomas A. Wiseman, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and as an intern in both the Criminal and Civil divisions of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee. Between college and law school, Mr. Branstetter earned his EMT license and served on the Davidson County Rescue Squad. An avid outdoorsman, he regularly volunteers as an instructor for both the Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association and Vanderbilt University Outdoor Recreation.
