Javier F. Gutierrez is a partner at Stuart Kane LLP, and practices in the Real Estate group.
ExperienceMr. Gutierrez focuses his law practice on Real Estate Transactional Law, and guides clients in the acquisition, finance, construction, lease and transfer of real estate and other corporate assets. His diverse practice includes all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including the drafting and negotiation of commercial leases, joint venture agreements, purchase and sale agreements, covenants, conditions and restrictions, reciprocal easement agreements, site development agreements and financing documents.
Mr. Gutierrez has been honored by the Urban Land Institute for the 2013 Emergent Leadership Award for Professional Services. Mr. Gutierrez has been recognized since 2019 on the Southern California Super Lawyers list and previously to the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list, and was selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers® in America 2023 in the practice area of Real Estate Law. Mr. Gutierrez has received the 2016 Top 40 Under 40 Award in Real Estate by Urban Land Magazine. He has been featured in the Spring 2018 edition of the USC Trojan Family, a publication for alumni and friends of the University of Southern California, as a “USC Groundbreaker” in the area of Real Estate Transactional Law. Mr. Gutierrez was also one of Stuart Kane’s contributing attorneys for the 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 World Bank “Doing Business” report on Real Property around the globe, and was named to the Daily Journal 2020 Top 40 Under 40 list.
Mr. Gutierrez is a member of the Real Estate Executive Council (RECC) and currently serves on the national organization’s membership committee. A leader in the real estate industry, Mr. Gutierrez is a Full Member of the Urban Land Institute, an international real estate and land use organization, and has served on the ULI Next, Young Leaders Group and Infrastructure Initiative committees. In 2012, Mr. Gutierrez chaired a Pro Bono Technical Assistance Panel for ULI, a year-long endeavor which culminated in a technical report on homeless shelter planning and development for the Orange County Rescue Mission. Mr. Gutierrez is also involved in a variety of other real estate industry organizations, including the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Building Industry Association of Orange County.
As a legal professional, Mr. Gutierrez is a member of the Orange County Bar Association, the Orange County Hispanic Bar Association and the John M. Langston Bar Association and has served as a Director on the Thurgood Marshall Bar Association.
In the community, Mr. Gutierrez completed a full term on the Board of Directors for American Family Housing and served as Chair of AFH’s Real Estate Acquisitions Committee and member of AFH’s Finance and Governance Committee. In his role as Chair, Mr. Gutierrez was responsible for guidance on all real estate assets for AFH, including award winning projects such as AFH’s Potter’s Lane project, a modified shipping container project that provides housing for homeless veterans. Mr. Gutierrez currently serves on the Orange County Regional Committee for the USC Gould School of Law Alumni Associates.
Mr. Gutierrez graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003, and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law in 2007.
