JD Howard is an Associate in the firm’s Environmental and Construction Practice Groups. JD focuses his practice on the national representation of project owners, lenders, investors, developers, general contractors, and specialty subcontractors in the drafting, negotiation, and review of design, engineering, and construction agreements. He has assisted clients with the design, construction, and renovation of major commercial buildings, multi-family housing projects (including condominiums, apartments, and townhomes), industrial facilities (warehouses and manufacturing projects), healthcare, hospitality, and mixed-use properties. JD has experience advising clients on pre-construction project development and planning issues as well as contractual risk allocation mechanisms. He also assists clients in the redevelopment of environmentally-impacted properties.
JD attended law school at the University of Georgia on the Hughes-Green family scholarship. While in law school, he served as Class President for the Class of 2016 and was the Senior Managing Editor of the Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law. JD also worked as a teaching assistant for Dean Lori Ringhand and a research assistant for Professor Kent Barnett.
JD received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Tusculum College in Business Administration with Management Accounting and Economics & International Business Concentrations. He won the Warren Lynn Drain award for the top business graduate and the President’s Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to Tusculum College’s academic excellence, athletic achievement, leadership, and exemplary demonstration of personal character. JD was also a pitcher for Tusculum’s baseball team and a two-time conference champion.
