Jonathan M. Colman

Mr. Colman concentrates his practice in litigation with a focus on trust and estate disputes, as well as probate and business disputes. He has significant experience and expertise in representing fiduciaries, as well as heirs, beneficiaries and other interested parties in complex probate proceedings. Mr. Colman also counsels clients on best practices and strategies to avoid future disputes when setting their personal and business affairs in order.

Mr. Colman has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® for Litigation – Trusts and Estates each year since 2018. He has also been selected as a "Super Lawyer" by Thomson Reuters and a “Top Lawyer” by DBusiness Magazine. While attending Wayne State University Law School, Mr. Colman was named both a Dean’s Scholar and a Lombard Fellow and was honored for excellence in written advocacy as a member of Wayne State’s Moot Court Program.

Mr. Colman is a member of the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Michigan Bar Association and the Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law of the American Bar Association. Mr. Colman serves in leadership roles with a number of civic and community organizations, including serving as Co-Chairman of the Board of Leaders for Kids, an advisory board to the Children’s Foundation (formerly the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation) and the Children's Foundation’s Planned Giving Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Metropolitan Detroit.
