Josef Schmidt

Josef Schmidt studied electrical engineering at the University of Paderborn, specializing in communications and data processing, and electronics at the University of Bochum (Ruhr), specializing in communications and high frequency and ultra-high frequency technology. After his studies, he worked in the industry on the research and development of gauging instruments, in particular regarding methods of measuring the thickness of metal layers and plastic films. In 1984 he joined the firm of VOSSIUS & PARTNER, and after his training he was admitted to practice as a German Patent Attorney (Patentanwalt) in 1987. In 1988, he became a European Patent Attorney, and in 1996 a European Trademark Attorney. Mr. Schmidt became a partner in the firm in 1990.

Josef Schmidt holds lectures on various topics in patent law, for example on the protection of software-related inventions.
