Ken Dekker, a partner of Affleck Greene McMurtry LLP, has over two decades of successful trial and appellate experience. Ken has litigated noteworthy and complex cases, including class action defence, securities and broker-dealer litigation and regulatory proceedings, corporate and shareholder disputes (including oppression and winding up cases), defamation, civil fraud litigation, disputes over contracts, injunctions, professional liability litigation, employment litigation and cross-border litigation issues. Ken has appeared before all levels of courts in Ontario, including the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court and the Court of Appeal for Ontario, as well as before the Supreme Court of Canada. He also represents investment industry participants in matters before the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), the Investment Industry Regulatory Association of Canada (IIROC) and the Mutual Fund Dealers Association (MFDA).
Called to the Bar, Ontario in 1998, Ken joined the firm that same year and was named Partner in 2006. Ken received his LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1996. He is an active member of The Advocates’ Society, an Associate Member of the American Bar Association and a Member of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association – Compliance and Legal Division (SIFMA-CL).
