Kyle Kantarek is an intellectual property partner in the Chicago office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he practices intellectual property litigation with a focus on patent litigation. His practice involves a range of technologies including pharmaceuticals, LEDs, medical devices, mechanical and industrial equipment, and internet advertising. Kyle has experience in all phases of patent litigation, including pre-filing investigations, fact and expert discovery, claim construction, summary judgment, trial in federal district court, and appeals to the Federal Circuit. Kyle also has experience assisting clients in drafting and negotiating settlement and license agreements.
Kyle also represents clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in inter partes review proceedings from initial petition through oral argument and appeals to the Federal Circuit.
Kyle further maintains an active pro bono practice that includes criminal appeals. Kyle has worked on multiple matters for the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission, a state agency tasked with investigating claims that torture was used to obtain confessions leading to criminal convictions. Kyle is also actively representing a defendant in a habeas corpus proceeding in the Eastern District of Michigan.
