Matt Saunders

Matt has established himself as a unique leader in privacy law and data security. Matt is an experienced Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), and he works closely with clients to provide responsive and comprehensive advice regarding privacy preparedness and data breaches. Matt is also the Chair of the Access & Privacy Law Section (Nova Scotia) for the Canadian Bar Association.

Serving clients in the Atlantic region and Ontario, Matt’s diverse practice involves proactively advising on internal privacy programs and policies, rapidly responding to cybersecurity incidents (including ransomware attacks), and supporting notification efforts according to applicable legislation. Matt is also skilled in oral advocacy and advising clients regarding complex commercial matters, particularly as they relate to privacy, data collection, and related contractual obligations. In addition, Matt is licensed to practice in both Nova Scotia and Ontario.

Prior to law, Matt had a successful consulting career in Vancouver where he managed pandemic response initiatives and public health security projects for clients across North America.
