He has represented numerous clients in complex acquisitions, mergers and financing transactions, including tax-exempt bond and REIT financings.
Mike serves as the Chair of two practice teams within the health care group at BABC: Long Term Care and Senior Housing, and Certificate of Need. He is active in a number of professional and civic organizations, including the Tennessee Health Care Association and LeadingAge-Tennessee, and nationally is very active with LeadingAge (formally the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging), where for many years he has served as the Tennessee representative to the Legal Committee of LeadingAge (Chair, 2004-05). Mike is a frequent speaker at seminars sponsored by the American Health Lawyers Association, LeadingAge and numerous Tennessee groups. Articles written by Mike have been published in various legal and professional forums.

In addition to his healthcare-related endeavors, Mike is active in his church, Woodmont Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where he is an Elder and a past chair of its Board of Directors. Mike served for nearly a decade as a member of the Board of Directors of the Mid-South Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, where he remains an Emeritus Director and ardent volunteer. He is also an avid sport balloonist (previously having been nationally ranked among pilots participating in hot air balloon competitions around the southeastern USA), and serves as an officer and director of the Middle Tennessee Balloon Group, a non-profit organization devoted to the science, history, art and sport of lighter-than-air aircraft.
