Attorney Neil Rockind, widely recognized as the "Rockweiler," stands as one of Michigan's premier criminal defense trial lawyers. Rockind honed his trial skills during his tenure as an assistant prosecuting attorney in the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office from 1993 to 1997. He handled thousands of criminal cases, many culminating in jury trials. His impressive results led him to take on complex and high-profile cases as a special prosecutor, including prosecuting Dr. Jack Kevorkian in People v. Kevorkian, one of the office's most notable cases.
As a criminal defense attorney, Rockind has provided clients with aggressive and effective representation for nearly twenty-eight years. He has handled numerous high-profile cases and has appeared on media outlets such as Fox News and MSNBC and in major news periodicals across the country. Rockind's defense experience encompasses a wide range of cases, from drunk driving to complex federal cases, representing celebrities and high-profile individuals including NFL super bowl champion Devon Thomas, attorney Geoffrey Fieger, Kimberly Mathers, Todd Bertuzzi, William Bedford, Kash Doll, and Icewear Vezzo.
Mr. Rockind is a sought-after public speaker, having presented on trial tactics at various seminars throughout Michigan. He has also spoken to continuing legal education groups on a range of legal topics and recently delivered a highly-acclaimed TedX Talk at Oakland University on Jury Duty titled, Joy of the Jury.
He is the author of KillerCrossExamination.com, a website dedicated to his unique cross-examination techniques. Rockind also hosts the popular podcast, Killer Cross Examination, where he shares true crime and trial war stories and interviews prominent trial lawyers such as Thomas Mesereau, Daniel Webb, Jeffrey Lichtman, and Roy Black.
In addition, Mr. Rockind is a frequently sought commentator on current legal issues and serves as the local NBC affiliate's legal expert. He regularly appears on WJR radio with Kevin Dietz to discuss current legal events and has been a guest on the Law and Crime Network and Justice Served TV with Linda Kenney Baden.
Rockind is a member of several esteemed organizations, including the Michigan State Bar, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan.
He has been profiled in numerous publications such as the Jewish News, Detroit News, The Oakland Press, Grosse Pointe News, Laws.com, Corp! magazine, Michigan Lawyers Weekly, Super Lawyers Magazine, and the Detroit Legal News. Rockind has made numerous television and radio appearances and previously hosted his own radio show, The Neil Rockind Show.
Rockind is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan and the Northern District of Ohio.
He earned his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School and a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Mr. Rockind has been a member of the Michigan State Bar since 1993.
