R. Brooke Lawson III is a partner in Capell & Howard, P.C.'s litigation section. He concentrates his practice in the areas of construction law, commercial and business litigation, and alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.
Brooke has experience representing general contractors, design professionals, subcontractors, owners and developers in all aspects of construction disputes before courts and arbitration panels, including construction contract negotiation and drafting and pre-claim counseling during the construction process. He has represented clients on all aspects of construction projects, including the preparation and negotiation of contract documents, bid disputes, delay claims, defective work claims, and payment disputes.
Brooke has been involved in a number of matters involving work-site accidents and injuries and he has advised clients on OSHA compliance and safety issues. Brooke’s practice has also included a variety of commercial and business litigation matters, including state and national consumer class action defense, products liability, personal injury, insurance defense, premises liability, collections, and employment issues. He has also been involved in litigation involving environmental and toxic tort matters.
Brooke is a registered mediator and arbitrator with the Alabama State Bar’s Center for Dispute Resolution.
Brooke is admitted in both Alabama and Georgia. He received his B.A. in 1988 from the University of Alabama and his J.D. in 1994 from Cumberland School of Law. In 1996, Brooke earned his LL.M. in Environmental Law from George Washington University.
