Scott Jenkins is a partner in and leader of the Maritime Practice Group and co-leader of the Maritime Industry Team. He advises clients on a broad range of maritime transactions, compliance, and litigation. Scott advises clients on coastwise trade, security, citizenship, manning, and vessel documentation issues; contracts; service agreements; charter agreements; disputes arising from commercial, construction, insurance coverage, and indemnity issues; personal injury and casualty litigation; and general vessel and operational compliance advice. Scott regularly handles offshore and maritime-related regulatory matters, including those involving the US Coast Guard and the US Customs and Border Protection of the US Department of Homeland Security. Scott also has assisted clients in meeting the requirements of the Maritime Labor Convention, including the drafting of employment contracts required by the MLC. Scott was a member of a subcommittee of the National Offshore Advisory Committee, which provided recommendations to the US Coast Guard in connection with the US Coast Guard's efforts to revise its Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular pertaining to the Outer Continental Shelf citizenship requirements and exemptions. He also has given presentations on offshore regulatory matters, including Outer Continental Shelf manning requirements, the MLC, and coastwise trade issues.
