Robert Freedman is a partner in Tarter Krinsky & Drogin’s Trusts and Estates Group. His practice focuses on addressing the legal and financial issues facing the elderly and persons with disabilities and their families. Clients rely on Robert’s depth of knowledge and over forty years of experience for a wide range of legal advice.
In particular, Robert assists families qualify for and secure government benefits like Medicaid and counsels families to ensure that special needs beneficiaries are appropriately provided for within the family’s estate plan. He is nationally recognized for advising clients on planning for individuals with disabilities and their families, especially Autism and other developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, mental illness and physical disabilities.
Robert focuses much of his work on elderly clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS and other debilitating illnesses. He founded the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and was elected as one of its first fellows. In addition, he was a founder of the Elder Law section of the New York State Bar Association, served as its chair and was honored with its Lifetime Achievement Award.
