Trusts and Estates
Rose Sher is a partner in the Tax Practice Group and a member of the trust and estates team. Rose is a board-certified estate planning and administration specialist, as certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization. She advises clients on all aspects of wills, trusts, estate and gift tax planning, asset valuations, business succession planning, and estate administration. Rose represents a broad range of high-net-worth individuals and families. She understands the unique goals and needs of clients whose concerns include changes of control, succession planning, gift planning, planning for incapacity, marital property planning, planned charitable giving, and other sensitive issues. Rose also represents not-for-profit organizations. Among other matters, Rose regularly prepares wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and marital property agreements. She also develops, documents, and executes complex wealth transfer, estate tax, and gift tax strategies; assists with estate administration; and prepares and reviews gift and estate tax returns. Rose has helped clients establish living trusts, charitable lead and charitable remainder trusts, and generation-skipping trusts. Additionally, she works with our litigation team to advise clients regarding fiduciary litigation cases. Rose has earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®professional designation from The American College of Financial Services. She is adept at helping clients develop and implement philanthropic programs to reach their charitable objectives while simultaneously helping them meet their estate planning and management goals. Working with lawyers from across the firm, Rose also serves as de facto outside counsel for many of her clients, eliminating unnecessary handoffs; connecting them with Jones Walker’s corporate, real estate, litigation, and other attorneys; and providing the institutional and individual client knowledge that can ensure the legal counsel they receive works in concert with their overall goals. Prior to entering private practice, Rose served for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Brian A. Jackson, chief judge of the US District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.
