Steve Badger has more than two decades of experience in a wide range of complex litigation matters for businesses and serves as the firm’s deputy general counsel. A pragmatic litigator and advocate, Steve focuses on paths to resolution that serve his client’s objectives using his persistence and powers of persuasion to drive home legal arguments in court and at the negotiating table.
Steve counsels and advises media organizations on media law issues, including rights of access and litigation avoidance. He represents media organizations in litigation involving the First Amendment, defamation, protection of news sources, rights of privacy and publicity, and copyright and trademark enforcement. Steve also defends attorneys and other professionals against claims of negligence or misconduct. He likewise represents alcoholic beverage-related concerns in litigation involving the 21st Amendment.
A persuasive litigator and registered civil mediator, Steve is appreciated for his cogent arguments and well-crafted litigation strategy. Steve’s approach to problem-solving includes de-escalating contention when desirable in order to negotiate a favorable and even mutually beneficial result. His productive, direct communication style allows him to establish immediate credibility not only with his clients and their constituents, but also with judges and opposing counsel.He is a frequent presenter and author on ethics and professionalism in the legal industry.
