Tyler J. Arbour’s practice includes tax planning and tax controversies, tax-exempt organizations, estate planning/administration and litigation, commercial transactions and general commercial litigation. Tyler also has substantial experience handling high-net-worth community property partitions and the negotiation and preparation of marriage contracts (prenuptial agreements). Specifically, his experience includes representation of taxpayers before the IRS, the Louisiana Department of Revenue and various parishes. Tyler has also handled the administration and litigation concerning of contested and uncontested Successions worth tens of millions of dollars.

Tyler regularly advises clients concerning operating agreements, asset purchase agreements, employment agreements, and other business matters. He has also negotiated sales of several businesses worth over $5 million. Tyler’s experience is not limited only to transactional business work. Tyler regularly handles litigation matters as well and has successfully argued motions in both state and federal court.

While in law school, Tyler developed an interest in tax law and gained hands-on experience as an Extern for the United States Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service, Office of Chief Counsel in New Orleans. This experience also encouraged him to seek a second specialized law degree in taxation.

Tyler received his L.L.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama in 2014 and his Juris Doctor in 2011 from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. He is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts and the United States District Court for Eastern District of Louisiana.

Tyler is very engaged in his community and currently is a board member of Project Lazarus. In the past, Tyler has been a board member of the Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans, Inc., and obtained their tax exempt, 501(c)(3) status on a pro-bono basis. He also has previously served on the local leadership committee for Lambda Legal and provided pro-bono legal services through the Idea Village’s IDEAx growth accelerator program.
