Scott Williams represents clients primarily in the health care, municipal, and gaming industries. His practice focuses on the defense of health care providers and entities, both insured and self-insured, in tort, business practices, and personal injury matters, as well as the defense of employment litigation. Scott's extensive experience includes advising his corporate and governmental clients daily on a wide range of general risk issues. He has also successfully defended major corporations in class action and mass tort claims, product liability, and real estate claims. Licensed in Missouri and Illinois, Scott practices primarily in Missouri and federal trial and appellate courts.
Scott began his college education at Freed-Hardeman University in western Tennessee, where he studied liberal arts with a focus on Bible and ministry. He then served as a full-time minister/pastor for various Midwest churches from 1977 through 1983. While pursuing his legal career, Scott has consistently volunteered as a pastor for several churches in the St. Louis area, complementing his full-time legal practice. In 1983, Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Arkansas State University, where he was named the “outstanding graduate in philosophy” by the faculty. That same year, he enrolled at the University of Mississippi Law School, graduating with his J.D., magna cum laude, and achieving the highest academic rank in his 1986 graduating class. During his time at Ole Miss, Scott served as the Articles Associate Editor for the Mississippi Bar Journal.
Scott is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the St. Louis Area Health Lawyers Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, and the Missouri Municipal Attorneys Association. Originally born in Kennett, Missouri, Scott spent much of his childhood in the lower peninsula of Michigan. He and his wife, Catherine, are long-time supporters of metropolitan St. Louis and reside in St. Charles County.
